another mask behind you... Outside the night was cold and dark. The only light was that of the crescent moon, glowing like the eye of a cat against the icy velvet sky. The promise of snow was on the air, made evident by the howling wind and the frozen fingers of chill that blew on it. A shrill wail was the constant companion of the torrent of wind, as it whistled through the trees, stripped bare of their leaves by the chilling November gale. Inside, however, was quite a different story. The grand hall was filled with light, color, and noise. Dark reds, blacks, blues, greens, deep yellows, and fiery oranges swirled and weaved on the glassy surface of the marble floor. A giant, glittering chandelier hung from the ceiling, casting dancing rays of light over the crowd below through its millions of tiny crystals.
