undecided endings part 12 As we approached the high gates, the house looked much less inviting as it had when I first saw it. The guards at the gate stopped us and looked suspiciously at Rowan as he explained that Katherine had given him permission to enter. They asked about me, and he told them I was a friend and that Katherine had asked him to bring me along. Eventually they let us pass, but made us leave the pack with them. Rowan grudgingly agreed, and we walked through the gates up the broad dirt path toward the house.
The guards at the front door let us in and told us to wait at the door until an escort came to take us to Katherine's quarters. We stood there looking into the huge hall for some time.
